Since opening in 2006, The Bread Peddler has been enthusiastically welcomed by the Olympia community. We are an artisan bakeshop offering authentic European fare. All of our products are made from scratch and are cooked with the utmost attention to ingredients and technique. We take pride in our serving our community through hard work and a commitment to culinary excellence.

Find our products at Ralph’s Thriftway, Bayview Thriftway, The Olympia Food Co-ops, Yelm Co-Op, SPUDS, and the Olympia Farmer’s Market! We also service local coffee shops throughout Olympia and Tumwater. Ask for your Bread Peddler favorites the next time you stop in for a cup!

With its cases lined with pastries and rustic loaves of naturally fermented breads, the Bread Peddler remains the market’s biggest draw, generating foot traffic for the newcomers.

...Besides the bakery and cafe, Le Rest and his partner, Frances Wolff, run two other sit-down dining spots in the market: Peddler Bistro, a Parisian-style cafe open for dinners and weekend brunch; and The Creperie, specializing in crepes made with buckwheat flour imported from France.

Those in the know make the Bread Peddler a daily stop for flaky croissants and oeufs en cocotte. Piquant tuna Niçoise sandwiches come on house-baked baguettes, and the almond meringue cookies are chewy, meltin-your-mouth good.

Those hoping for a fresh loaf would be smart to call ahead if they plan to arrive much after noon. But there are plenty of other items to be found at the downtown bakery, winner of both Best Bakery and Best Soup.
